Beethoven vs. Beethoven

Beethoven's over-the-top legal battle with his sister-in-law for custody of his dead brother's young son, Karl, leads to dramatic consequences for the increasinglv deaf composer. This new drama is set amid the splendors of some of Beethoven's most profound late works.

The famed singer and war heroine, known as

The Black Venus, is tasked with determining the Eternal Fate of Gertrude Stein, queen of the Paris avant-garde, and her consort, Alice B. Toklas, for their association with Nazi collaborators, in a comic fantasy set to the music of Messiaen, Varèse, Honegger, Xenakis, Pierre Henry, and Guillaume de Machaut.

In a new fantasy theater piece, Glenn Gould fakes his own death in 1982, and has, under a pseudonym, been making recordings ever since in the 'Far North' of Canada. The strange and intimate relationship between a future, fictional Gould and the real Gould intermingles with Bach's iconic "Goldberg" Variations.

 

 

Andy Warhol: A Divine Comedy

The near-death experiance of Andy Warhol, after he was shot by Valerie Solanas in 1968, is re-imagined à la Dante's Inferno, with the dramatic fair of a Barcque comic opera.
